Between now and 2025, the American automobile manufacturer is planning on offering a complete range of electric SUVs, but for the time being the Stellantis group is already offering the 2023 electric Jeep Wrangler 4xe and Grand Cherokee 4xe. The first, which appeared in 2021, is a plug-in hybrid that is just as competent –or rather, even more so- than its traditional fuel counterpart, while the second, the Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe SUV, arrived in Jeep dealerships as a 2022 model-year.
Jeep Technology
With its ambitious Zero Emission Freedom program, the manufacturer has set into motion the manufacturing of 100 % electric vehicles that aims at –as mentioned above- offering a complete range of electric SUVs between now and 2025. We should soon have access to the all-new Jeep Recon –expected for 2024- and the Wagoneer S, both built in North America. Moreover, both of these sport utilities will be available for reservation early 2023.
Built on the STLA Frame platform, these 2023 electric Jeep will provide you with an impressive electric range. Here is the electric range according to platform, for all of the electric Stellantis vehicles:

Battery Performance
At the very heart of the electric powertrain you will find the battery which, for all 2023 electric Jeep and the upcoming future models, we now know will be built in Windsor Ontario. This ambitious project –in partnership with the Stellantis group and the LG Energy Solution Company- is planning on building a 3- million square foot factory that will be hiring over 2,500 workers.
This factory will be building two types of batteries: one without nickel or cobalt that offers optimal stability and a lower production cost, and another that is nickel based and that offers a higher energy efficiency density.

What you should know about charging times
Everyone knows that charging stations are essential, as much for plug-in hybrid vehicles as they are for fully electric ones. However, Stellantis has created a new technology called DWPT for “Dynamic Wireless Power Transfer” that allows you to charge your vehicle while driving.
Although it is still in the development process, this technology will allow an electric vehicle to recharge while it is being driven. But instead of actually recharging the battery, the DWPT sends electricity directly to the motor without actually using the battery itself.
Consumption and electric range
A low electric range is often what stops buyers from making the move to purchase an electric vehicle; but since the 2023 electric Jeep are built on STLA platforms, they come with the promise of hundreds of kilometers of electric range, which will eliminate the stress of running “flat” on your way to your destination. Here are a few numbers:
- Over 800 kilometers of electric range, depending on model;
- A consumption of less than 12 kWh/100 km;
- Extremely quick charging times of 32 kilometers per minute.

Electric SUVs
Other than the Jeep Recon and Wagoneer S which are expected here in North America, our European cousins will have access to the 2023 electric Jeep Avenger, a subcompact SUV that is also commercialized in South Korea and Japan, at least for now.
